Skirt Toile in Calico
Jessie here. So we have an assignment coming up in the next few weeks that requires us to construct a pattern for a skirt we designed last semester. Then, yep, we're sewing it! I made the pattern for this skirt last week and quickly constructed it in calico as a trial to see how it fit on the mannequin. The pattern definitely needs to be altered quite a bit! The second tier is too long and the waistband needs to be adjusted big time! A toile (a mock up) is a great way to test a garment and make changes if need be! I'm thinking of making the final one in silk organza...off to a fabric store in Surry Hills this afternoon! Will keep you updated x

I L L U S T R A T I O N
For the last few weeks in the subject Fashion Communication, we've been learning how to create range drawings, utilising a variety of new techniques and medium. We handed in an assessment last week in which we were required to create a series of fashion figures using charcoal, copic markers and guache paint. In total, the portfolio that we handed in contained roughly fourteen fashion figures. Here are some pics of our illustrations.

Experimenting with sequins on a very disproportional body - woops!
Slowly getting there...some of the final figures with satin and heavily embellishment garments. Here we're examining how specific garments fall and drape on the body as well as how they reflect light.
